Ms. Shobhana Rana is the Dean of External Relations for the School of Public Affairs and Governance. She has over two decades of experience in international conflict resolution and management, working with the United Nations in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ethiopia and Eritrea and at headquarters in New York. She has also worked with the International Civilian Office in Kosovo as well as the private sector in India and the United States. While specializing in conflict resolution and management, Ms. Rana also has expertise in the areas of human rights, peace and security, international development and war crimes.

As the Dean of External Relations, Ms. Rana heads the Office of External Relations and is a founding member of the Senior Management Team (SMT). In this capacity, she is responsible for shaping policy related to the School’s external relations which includes reaching out to donors, identifying potential faculty and Fellows for the Executive Education programs, liaising with senior leadership across global universities, non-governmental organizations, think tanks and philanthropic organizations. Ms. Rana works with the Vice-Chancellor, Dean of the School and other faculty to develop the School’s curriculum with an emphasis on global engagement. She represents the School at all international fora and meetings and is responsible for all international programs to be held at the School on an annual basis. Ms. Rana is also a mentor to students enrolled in the Masters of Public Policy course on their academic goals as well as professional choices upon completion of their degrees.

Ms. Rana earned her Bachelors and Master’s degrees from Harvard University.

Prof. Mohanty is a senior management leader, with experience in diverse sectors: profit, nonprofit and government. He has deep-domain expertise in talent management, employee communication, and branding and team dynamics. He is an avid blogger and speaker on topics of Human Resources, social development and individual performance. He has worked for PSUs like Steel Authority of India as a Deputy Manager and CARE, a Non-profit organization, before moving to work for corporates like Eicher, IBM, POSCO, Wipro, Dr. Reddy’s and many more.

Prof. Mohanty has completed his MA in Political Science and PGDM from Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar (XIMB) with a specialization in Human Resource Management and Marketing. He is currently pursuing his PhD at Utkal University.
